'Sergeant DENSLEY displayed much gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance on 8th August. When MORCOURT Valley was reached Sergeant DENSLEY was moving with ''A' Company and they came under Machine Gun Fire from the wood there. He displayed much coolness and initiative by immediately collecting a party in and succeeded in putting the gun out of action. He himself disabling a number of Boche in doing so. Sergeant DENSLEY then proceeded through the enemy at great personal risk. His coolness and devotion to duty was a fine example to those under him and his work was done in a most thorough and cheerful manner. aiding much to maintain the spirits of those in connection with him.'
