Embarked Melbourne, 16 December 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 18 February 1917, and marched in to 15th Training Bn, Hurdcott.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 May 1917; taken on strength, 57th Bn, 28 May 1917.

On leave to England, 26 February 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 20 March 1918.

Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, 12 July 1918 (sprained ankle), and transferred to 61st Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 21 July 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 26 July 1918.

Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, 8 August 1918; discharged to duty, and rejoined Bn, 9 August 1918.

Admitted to 12th Casualty Clearing Station, 1 October 1918 (influenza); transferred to Ambulance Train No 21, 2 October 1918, and admitted to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 3 October 1918; transferred to England, 4 October 1918, and admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, 5 October 1918; discharged on furlough, 23 October 1918, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 6 November 1918.

Found guilty, 21 January 1919, of being absent without leave, 2359, 13 January, to 2200, 17 January 1919: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 8 days' pay.

Married Mona Kate WADLEY, spinster, aged 20, The Rock Lane Meeting (Independent), 24 September 1919.

Proceeded on indefinite leave, 11 October 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Shropshire', 2 December 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 22 January 1920; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Melbourne, 7 March 1920.
