Embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Arcadian' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 29 July 1916; disembarked Southampton after Marseilles, 9 August 1916. Proceeded overseas to France from Training Bn, 31 August 1916; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 11 September 1916; marched out to field, 28 September 1916; taken on strength of 53rd Bn, 30 September 1916. Appointed Driver, 24 December 1916. Attached for duty with Pack Transport Troop, 23 September 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 1 October 1917; detached for duty with Pack Transport Troop, 9 October 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 26 October 1917.
