Military Medal

'On the 7th/8th and 9th June, 1917, south east of MESSINES, for magnificent work as a stretcher bearer. He performed most arduous duties in a heroic manner, and was on duty without rest for a period of 48 hours carrying wounded from the front line to the Regimantal Aid Post. The track followed in the evacuation of the wounded was constantly subjected to intense fire from hostile guns of very heavy calibre. He displayed great fortitude and courage throughout.'
