Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack west and north of BRAY on the morning of the 22nd August, 1918, the enemy was subjecting our troops to heavy barrage fire. Acting on his own initiative this soldier left his entrenched gun position on three separate occasions to bring in wounded comrades to a place of safety. By his courageous and gallant acts he undoubtedly saved his fellows.'
