War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 5 April 1915. Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance; transferred to 3rd Australian General hospital, 19 September 1915 (teeth). Appointed Lance Corporal, 7 December 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, 27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 30 March 1916. Appointed Temporary 2nd Corporal, 19 August 1916. Admitted to No 2 Convalescent Depot, Rouen, 11 November 1916 (influenza); transferred to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 14 November 1916; to No 2 Convalescent Depot, 20 November 1916; discharged to Base Details, 25 November 1916.
