'For gallantry and devotion to duty during operations against MONT St. QUENTIN, near PERONNE, on 31st August 1918. His platoon was holding an isolated position the flank of another unit. A party of the enemy succeeded in getting into a position 25 yards off, and tried to bomb them out. Private ORR took his Lewis gun to an exposed position on the flank and although subjected to heavy rifle fire, destroyed the enemy Machine gun that they had mounted and inflicted heavy casualties. he kept up covering fire, which enabled the party to move forward and mop up the enemy post. by skilful handling of his Lewis Gun and by his personal courage he assisted materially in clearing up a dangerous position.'
