Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty with the battalion transport. The pack train was heavily shelled every day, and it was entirely due to coolness and prompt action that the pack animals were brought through the hostile barrage. When some of his animals were wounded, he was instrumental in clearing the road and preventing a dangerous congestion of traffic.'
