Military Medal 'On the night of 31st August, 1916, in the operations north west of POZIERES, Corporal FALKINER went out to lay a telephone line. Finding the usual route impassable owing to mud and damage caused by shell fire, he went out alone and laid the wire in the open, regardless of the heavy shelling from the enemy. He successfully accomplished his work and kept his Battalion in communication at a most critical time. This N.C.O. has done consistently excellent work since the landing at ANZAC on 25th April, 1915.'

Though wounded before the attack commenced, he remained on duty, supervising stations, helping to run lines and doing all within his power to assure smooth working. On duty without ret or respite during the whole tour, out at all times under the heaviest barrage, he was an example and an inspiration to all. Sergeant FALKINER was awarded the Military Medal for work at MOUQUET FARM on the 29th August, 1916.'
